Halesworth
The railway
station at Halesworth is located just
a
few minutes walk from the town centre. The station houses a museum, Tourist Information Centre,
and Halesworth Area Community Transport (HACT). Halesworth's
main street, the Thoroughfare, is pedestrianised, contains many
shops, restaurants, pubs, and a library. An outdoor market is
held every Wednesday featuring clothing, plants, cards and wrapping paper, fruit
and vegetables and fresh fish.

The Halesworth
and District Museum
is inside the
station. Admission is free, donations are welcome. The museum has fine
local history, photograph, archaeology and geology collections, and
a working model of the station's moveable platforms. The full-sized
platforms (at the northern end of the station and
cosmetically restored by the Railway Heritage Trust)
are unique in that they are the only ones in
their original
position.
