Beccles Station Upgrade

The
long awaited enhancements at Beccles railway station are nearing fruition,
following consultation with the East Suffolk Line Community Rail
Partnership over the planned changes.
The plans include
contruction of a new shelter and seating on the platform. A new
entrance will be created for rail users arriving by car, taxi or cycle.
The station car park will accommodate 15 cars and will be situated
near the north end of the platform. A further major benefit will be
security improvements created by the sheltered housing development
overlooking the station, and CCTV coverage of the platform and car
park.
Legal agreements are still
to be finalised between Network Rail, 'one' Railway and the developer, but
it is hoped the works
can be agreed and completed by Spring
2008.
